Project Description

Board of directors have various effect on firm including R&D spending policy, short-term performance, ceo turnovers, etc. The project is to examine different types of board of directors' effect on ceo's incentive when firm is in financial distress. In addition, another project is to examine the effect of CEO characteristics on firm value, firm innovation, or risk-taking behavior. Prior research shows that certain CEO characteristics and hobbies affect firm's R&D spending policy, firm short-term performance, etc.

Work Description

This project is to enhance/update current board of directors dataset by going/reading through articles and searching Google manually and then coding into the dataset. Work may require additional knowledge of SAS or STATA but is not required. In addition, the project requires to update on CEO's characteristics such as gathering images of CEOs through Google or encrypting voices of CEO from various sources. Such data collection requires patience and meticulous workmanship from the graduate assistant. 

Work Schedule

Meetings could be done every other week to check and report the progress, and to discuss any rising issues. If face-to-face meetings can't be done, virtual meeting via skype or facetime calls can be done. A monthly update on milestones covered is required.
