Assessment of Menopause knowledge, attitudes, and practices among women 45 and older living in Genesee County.

Project Description

This position engages the student in two studies. For study one, the GSRA will  be responsible for helping to develop and implement a needs assessment survey and focus groups  on menopause knowledge, attitudes, perceptions and practices among women 45 and older living in Genesee County.   The second study focuses on data analysis of an online survey focused on sexual health and risk taking factors of adults over the age of 18.  Student is engaged in all aspects of study design and implementation including manuscript development. 

Work Description

This position engages the student in two studies. For study one, the GSRA will be responsible for helping to develop and implement a needs assessment survey with the study population.  GSRA will be responsible for working with the faculty member in all aspects of the study including human subjects’ approval, recruiting subjects to participate in the study and using social media and other recruitment strategies, and survey development.  Student will work with faculty to input data and conduct data analysis of online survey.  Focus groups will be conducted for this study and the GSRA will be integral in the development, implementation, and evaluation of focus groups.  The GSRA would be responsible for assisting in the development of manuscripts for publication including data analysis, writing literature reviews, researching journals and journal articles to be included in the literature review. Responsible for developing both poster and oral presentations for submission to conferences.

Requirements Description

Applicants should have knowledge of SPSS and basic data analysis, strong oral and written communication skills.   Applicants need to be familiar with using social media to help recruit research subjects and implement research activities utilizing technology.  Also, applicants should be familiar with survey development and/or using Qualtrics or online survey tools.  Student must have had a course in public speaking. Health education and promotion or public health background preferred. Psychology background is acceptable.  Expertise in women’s health and/or sexual health preferred.

Applicants should be able to work independently and EFFICIENTLY.  Strong organizational skills are necessary in order to work on multiple tasks
