Anesthesia Program Graduate Student Research Assistant

Project Description

The Health Sciences Reasoning Test with Numeracy (HSRT-N) and California Critical Thinking Dispositions Inventory (CCTDI) was administered to nurse anesthesia students University of Michigan-Flint Anesthesia Program in early fall semesters 2017 and 2018. The HSRT-N will be administered again in summer semesters 2019 and 2021. Test scores will be compared to Graduate Records Examination (GRE) scores, anesthesia program admissions interview scores, nursing degree grade point average (GPA), overall pre-admission GPA, Self-Evaluation Examination (SEE) scores, National Certification Examination (NCE) scores, final weighted average scores in anesthesia program courses throughout the 2-year curriculum (for master's students) or 3-year curriculum (for doctoral students), and final Anesthesia Program GPA to determine if the HSRT-N and/or CCTDI are accurate predictors of academic success in the nurse anesthesia program. The two HSRT-N scores will be compared to determine if critical thinking skills improved during the Anesthesia Program.

Work Description

Searching and summarizing literature, MS Excel spreadsheet design and maintanence, compiling and organizing quantitative data, and other research duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements Description

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, high level of experience and skill working with EndNote and MS Excel, and ability to work collaboratively with the Anesthesia Program faculty and staff.

Work Schedule

4-6 hours/week worked Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
