A Randomized Control Trial to Change Parental Attitudes and Behavior Regarding Physical Punishment of Children
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a brief psycho-educational parent intervention strategy that aims to shift parental attitudes towards spanking and reduce the use of spanking to discipline children among parents in Genesee County. The findings of this study will contribute to promoting effective parenting support programs to families in Genesee County.
The GSRA will support the faculty with various aspects of this project. Mainly, they will assist with survey and intervention material development, communication with community collaborators, recruitment and management of participants, assist participants with assessments, assist with intervention, send out assessments by email and mail, and entering data. Students will also have the chance to analyze and interpret data.
Successful completion in at least one statistics course.
5-7 hours a week. Specific schedules will be discussed with the appropriate candidate.
